Blue Zircon

This is a photo of a vintage 1950/60’s blue zircon and diamond ring. Don’t confuse it with the synthetic cubic zirconia. This is a real gemstone since ancient days! The colorless stones make convincing substitutes for diamonds! However, the strength of this stone cannot take the place of diamonds. Care must be taken if you own one as the facets can chip. Zircon comes in an array of colors. Although it’s called ‘blue’ it does have a tad of green in it which should become apparent when compared with other blue stones. This is the December birthstone so look for an upcoming additional post at that time. If you own a blue zircon take care of it…’s GORGEOUS!
